Kona coffee
Like much of Hawaii, Kona offers ideal climate conditions for growing coffee.
But there is a thing different about the Kona coffee cherries produced here which has earned this coffee a
worldwide name for excellence. It'd be the dark rich volcanic soil, which has an ideal mix of astringency and
minerals, and keeps just the correct quantity of water. It might be the faithful cloud cover that rolls in each
afternoon, protecting the fragile coffee trees from the glaring afternoon sun.
The difference could also lie in the care with which Kona coffee is handpicked, making sure that only the best
quality berries are cropped for coffee production.

The most rare of Kona Coffee beans is Peaberry, making up only 4 to 5 % of the complete Kona crop yearly. Peaberry
is surprising because each coffee cherry contains just one bean, whilst all other kinds of Kona contain 2 beans per
cherry.
